Allexyss Brown Receives Penn State Funding for Spring Research

Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, has awarded an undergraduate research grant to Allexyss Brown, a junior from Rochester. Brown's study, "Perturbing Folate Metabolism through the Morpholino Knockdown of BHMT in Zebrafish (Danio rerio) Embryos", will be supervised by James Warren.

Penn State Behrend awarded more than $60,000 in grant funding to 108 student researchers this semester. The college provides nearly $350,000 each year to support undergraduate research by its students.

Penn State Behrend is a comprehensive residential college with 4,350 students. The heart of the campus -- the former Glenhill Farm -- was donated by Mary Behrend, the widow of Ernst Behrend, who founded the Hammermill Paper Co. in Erie in 1898. For more information, visit behrend.psu.edu.
