Lacy Smiesko Receives Penn State Funding for Spring Research

Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, has awarded Lacy Smiesko, of Sarver, an undergraduate spring research fellowship. Smiesko, a junior, will study "Sequencing of the Apios Americana Chloroplast Genome and the 16s rRNA Region of Associated Soil/Nodule Microflora". The work will be supervised by Michael Campbell and Beth Potter.
Penn State Behrend awarded 58 grants and nearly $59,000 to student researchers this spring. The college provides nearly $350,000 each year to support undergraduate research by its students.
